Investigative reporter Mike Holfeld from Channel 6 CBS local news paid Innova Medical Care a visit to discuss the pressing issue of Florida's nursing and physicians shortage.
Besides having a great collegial time, it was enlightening as we exchanged views on the passing of HB 1061 which 'calls for the state to join the Nurse Licensure Compact allowing nurses licensed in other states to practice in Florida via a multi-state license'
I am convinced this will pass and is very much needed to cover the void of nursing staff in our crowded Emergency rooms. I also understand that the health system must undergo drastic changes for Primary Care to be an inviting specialty for graduating doctors therefore increasing the number of Primary Care Docs; and where doctors and health care providers in the trenches are the backbone in the decision making process impacting our patients.
Is the solution much simpler than we think? Meanwhile, Innova Medical Care's mission as a Direct Primary Care is to partner with our patients, and offer a reliable Medical home where patients can access us when they need us the most and where the insurance middle man is halted from interfering with the doctor-patient relationship. Data is showing that the Direct Primary Care model has a positive impact in relieving the overcrowded Emergency Rooms by reducing unnecessary visits easily cared in the outpatient setting. This is what we do at our Direct Care practice.
As we widen the medical access to our patients in an affordable way, we foresee the Direct Primary Care model becoming the 'rule' rather than the exception in bringing services to the underinsured and uninsured.

Call us and see if Direct Primary Care is the right choice for you!
